India is a land of palaces, forts and tombs. Due to its strategic geographical location, it has been
invaded from all sides and the rulers have left their indelible marks on the history, architecture,
social and cultural milieu of the country. This coach depicts some of the finest structures from
different parts of the country. The Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan has a boundary wall with a
perimeter of 36 km and upto 15 ft thick at some places, the 10th and 11th temples at Khajuraho
famous for depicting the treatise on love on their outer walls, one of the first Mughal era structures
- Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, the marbellous monument – Taj Mahal, the marvel of Rajputana
architecture - Hawa Mahal at Jaipur, Rajasthan, the fort at Gwalior and the more recent India Gate
at New Delhi, speak about the diversity of architectural marvels spread across the country.
